King Charles III’s Coronation

Publication date 11 May 2023

King Charles III’s Coronation took place on the 6th of May at Westminster Abbey, London.

As His Majesty is the Sovereign Head of the Order, our Lord Prior, Professor Mark Compton GCStJ, was part of King Charles III’s Procession.

The Lord Prior said: "It is a huge honour to represent the Order of St John at the Coronation of King Charles III today. The Coronation of our Sovereign Head is a historic moment in all our lives; may this moment mark the beginning of a prosperous and fulfilling reign".

The Officers of the Court of the Lord Lyon were on duty at the Coronation, resplendent in their state regalia. We are very fortunate, and proud, that several of the Court are members of the Priory of Scotland, amongst them The Lord Lyon himself, Dr Joe Morrow CVO CBE KC LLD.

Below are pictures shared from the Coronation.
