Charity event by Ayrshire and Arran
The Wellwood Burns Centre and Museum in Irvine was the venue for a charity evening organised by Ayrshire & Arran’s Archie Chalmers on Friday 10 May. Around eighty guests enjoyed a full and varied programme of first-class entertainment.
Our guest speaker Dr Joseph Morrow gave a most enlightening and informative talk about his role as Lord Lyon King of Arms, particularly regarding the funeral of the late HM Queen Elizabeth II and of the Coronation of HM King Charles III.
Internationally renowned and highly sought after Burns speaker, John Shirkie, spoke about Robert Burns the Freemason and his time in Irvine.
Musical entertainment was provided by award winning accordionist, Liam Stewart who also provided piano accompaniment for the talented singing duo Alan and Polly Beck.
The event raised a magnificent £1355 which will be used by the area to continue to provide Public Access Defibrillators to local communities.
Grateful thanks go to the following people who made the evening a huge success:
- All our guest contributors
- Archie Chalmers who organised the event with support from Janice Granger
- The Directors of Irvine Burns Club for the use of the venue
- All the ladies from Irvine who organised the refreshments and the raffle
- Mr David Pattison from Mauchline for his generous donation of raffle prizes
- Mr Derek Murdoch for his technical assistance with the screen presentation and his photography.
- Everyone who attended or supported the event.
A massive ‘Thank you’ to you all for your contribution and for your continued support of St John Scotland Ayrshire and Arran.
