New defibrillator for Lodge St John RA Saltcoats and Ardrossan
St John Scotland Ayrshire and Arran recently unveiled a defibrillator at Lodge St John RA Saltcoats and Ardrossan No 320. The Lodge worked with St John Scotland as part of the St John defibrillator scheme and took guardianship of the machine.
Pictured from left to right are James Henry, a member of the Masonic Lodge; Mrs Anne McVey; Colin McCormick, Patient Transport Lead and Committee Member St John Scotland Ayrshire and Arran; and Mrs McVey’s grandsons Chris and Ryan Coleman.
The defibrillator unit was partially funded thanks to a donation from Mr McVey, a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Bystander CPR and defibrillator awareness training also took place that day, led by Brian Gibson. It was open to the whole community, with the Royal British Legion Scotland Saltcoats, Ardrossan and Stevenson branch also invited to attend as they had been gifted a defibrillator by St John Scotland, in memory of a young woman, Laura Henderson, formerly from Stewarton. This 24/7 defibrillator is outside Gallagher’s pharmacy in Saltcoats.
